Airport Real Estate was founded in Colorado Springs in 2017 by Brendan Clarke, an FAA and CAA qualified pilot with an Airline Transport Pilots (ATP) license, who is also a licensed real estate broker. This experience qualifies him to bring tremendously valuable insights on both the aviation and real estate aspects of an airport property lease or sale.
Brendan and his team speak aviation and specialize in the unique needs and requirements involved with airport real estate properties. The company excels in getting clients results, understanding how to get hangars built, providing one-on-one personal contact, and most importantly, listening to clients needs, requirements, and concerns.
As a veteran aviator, Brendan’s 33-year career in aviation with over 8,700 hours of flight time includes a 23-year stint in the military as a fighter pilot in his home country of New Zealand and five years flying the B777 internationally for Air New Zealand. He is also an independent broker who holds the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation (a MBA style program) which signifies an individual is versed in the commercial and investment real estate industry. Less than 6% of industry brokers hold this designation. It includes knowledge of the ethics and negotiation practices of investing in the commercial real estate market.
Prior to founding Airport Real Estate, Brendan worked for NAI Highland and Cushman and Wakefield in Colorado Springs. He is also a property manager of a 60,000 square-foot mixed-use medical, dental, retail, and office complex spread over eight acres and has improved the property’s vacancy from 82% to 96% in two years while reducing the maintenance budget by 50% and improving property aesthetics at the same time.
As an active pilot, Brendan connects daily throughout the country to keep abreast of the latest activity in airport real estate, hangars, and aviation-related business. As a member of AOPA, NBAA and CABA the Airport Real Estate team stays well informed of what is happening and affecting the aviation community.
